The Savannah Bananas are set to launch their most extensive tour yet in 2026, bringing their distinctive "Banana Ball" brand of baseball to 75 stadiums across 45 states, while also expanding their league with two new teams. The highly anticipated season kicks off on February 26 in Tallahassee, Florida.
A Nationwide Spectacle
This ambitious schedule marks a significant expansion for the Bananas, a team renowned for its unconventional and entertaining approach to baseball. Fans nationwide can expect the high-energy entertainment that has garnered the team a massive following, including more TikTok followers than any Major League Baseball team. The tour will feature matchups not just with the Bananas but also with other teams in their growing league, which now includes the newly announced Loco Beach Coconuts and Indianapolis Clowns. They join the existing roster of the Bananas, Firefighters, Party Animals, and Texas Tailgaters.
The "Banana Ball" Phenomenon
"Banana Ball" isn't traditional baseball. It operates under a distinct set of rules designed for speed, excitement, and unparalleled fan engagement. Games run on a strict two-hour time limit, eliminating lengthy delays. There are no walks, no bunting, and batters can't step out of the box. Pitchers are also restricted from making mound visits, keeping the action constantly in motion.
One of the most famous rules allows fans to catch a foul ball for an out, directly involving the audience in the game's outcome. Beyond the rule changes, the Bananas deliver a carnival-like atmosphere. Spectators might see a dancing umpire, "dad bod" cheerleaders, or even a player on stilts, all contributing to what owner Jesse Cole calls "The Greatest Show in Sports."
Cole, recognizable by his signature yellow tuxedo, and his wife Emily, launched the Savannah Bananas in January 2016. Initially, they struggled to sell tickets, even resorting to selling their house to finance the venture. That risk paid off dramatically. Their fan-focused format quickly sold out games, and the team has continued its streak of sold-out events ever since, building a loyal following across the country.
A Superdome Milestone
The Bananas recently hit a major milestone, converting the iconic Caesars Superdome in New Orleans into a baseball diamond for the first time in 22 years. On March 14 and 15, the Bananas faced off against the Party Animals in two sold-out games. The first pitch on Saturday was at 7 p.m., followed by a 3:30 p.m. start on Sunday.
Jesse Cole hailed the New Orleans stop as a monumental achievement for the organization. "It's unbelievable when you think about it because it's one of the most iconic stadiums in the world," Cole stated. He drew comparisons to the few other acts that have sold out the venue multiple nights, including global superstars like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and U2, as well as major events like WrestleManias and Super Bowls.
The Superdome events also featured special guest appearances. New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough took the field during a "halftime show" on March 15, delighting the tens of thousands in attendance with a back-shoulder throw for a touchdown. Shough has already begun to win over Saints fans, having gone 5-4 in limited action last season, earning the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year award, and even appearing on a popular Carnival parade float.
Pre-game festivities were held in Champion’s Square, open only to ticket holders, with activities like player meet-and-greets and a "Pre-Party Live Show." The Superdome enforced its clear bag policy, and only cashless transactions were accepted, with ride-shares encouraged for transportation to the venue.
