McDonald’s is spicing up its menu with a KPop Demon Hunters collaboration. Starting March 31, fans of the hit Netflix animated film can sink their teeth into two limited-edition meals inspired by the movie’s rival K-pop bands.
A Battle of Flavors Hits McDonald's
This new menu drop from McDonald’s isn’t your typical fast-food offering. The chain has partnered with Netflix to bring the fictional K-pop groups from the 2025 animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" to life with two special meals. The offerings spotlight the film’s central rivalry between the girl group HUNTR/X and the boy band Saja Boys.
Each meal reflects the distinct vibe and style of the bands. This Saja Boys Breakfast Meal, available only during morning hours, features a Sausage McMuffin with Egg dressed in a peppery Spicy Saja Sauce. On the side, customers get crispy hash browns and a small soft drink — a nod to the Saja Boys’ song, "Soda Pop," from the film.
The HUNTR/X Meal, served during lunch and dinner, packs a punch with a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium soft drink, and the standout Ramyeon McShaker Fries. These fries come with a seasoning blend inspired by Korean ramyeon — soy, garlic, sesame, and spice — that customers shake up themselves in a McShaker bag. The meal also includes two dipping sauces: Hunter Sauce, a sweet chili flavor, and Demon Sauce, a tangy purple mustard that ties directly to the movie’s storyline.
More Than Just Food: Collectibles and Exclusive Content
This partnership offers more than just new flavors. Each meal includes a collectible card pack featuring exclusive photocards of either HUNTR/X or the Saja Boys, plus a special "Derpy" access card. Derpy is a blue tiger character from the film, and the card grants fans the chance to scan a QR code and enter a unique code on the McDonald’s app.
Doing so unlocks early access to exclusive content and a special reveal tied to the ongoing "Battle for the Fans" contest in the movie’s universe.
Fans have until April 26 to redeem these digital perks. This move cleverly blends fast food with fandom, letting customers interact with the experience beyond just eating.
A Sweet Finish with the Derpy McFlurry
Rounding out the new menu items is the Derpy McFlurry, a dessert inspired by the film’s character Derpy Tiger. The McFlurry blends creamy vanilla soft serve with berry-flavored popping pearls and a wild berry sauce drizzle. The purple-hued treat offers a fun, fruity twist that fits with the movie’s vibrant aesthetic.
McDonald’s says the Derpy McFlurry will be available à la carte during the promotion period, giving fans a chance to taste the film’s colorful world in dessert form.
Why This Collaboration Matters
"KPop Demon Hunters" has built a passionate global fanbase since its Netflix debut last June. This movie follows HUNTR/X, a girl group who secretly hunts demons targeting their fans, while the demon-formed Saja Boys try to take them down. The story blends music, action, and a vibrant K-pop culture backdrop.
McDonald’s and Netflix saw a natural fit for this partnership, marrying two massive fandoms. Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, said the collaboration was designed with fans in mind. Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer, emphasized that the meals draw heavily from Korean food traditions, adding authenticity to the experience.
This launch comes right after McDonald’s rolled out its biggest burger in the U.S., the Big Arch, showing the chain’s effort to shake up its menu and attract different tastes. The KPop Demon Hunters meals also mark McDonald’s attempt to weave Korean flavors into its offerings, reflecting the growing influence of Korean culture in the U.S.
But wait, it’s not only about flavors or fandom. This tie-in sparks a fresh kind of fan engagement by mixing food, music, and digital content, showing how entertainment brands can find new ways to reach audiences beyond the usual methods.
The KPop Demon Hunters meals and Derpy McFlurry will be available nationwide starting March 31. Fans eager to get exclusive content and enjoy the unique flavors have until April 26 to take part in this limited-time event.
